Le Bicentenaire de la Société Humaine et des Naufrages de Boulogne sur Mer

200 years! Ten generations of volunteer sailors from Boulogne have dedicated themselves to saving the lives and boats of their fellow sailors. Available night and day, weekdays and holidays alike, they set out without hesitation, whatever the weather, to rescue people in peril: fishing, commercial, and royal sailors, or ordinary pleasure boaters; they shared a selfless dedication to the good of others, without questioning the origins of the people they assisted or rescued and/or the reasons why they found themselves in difficulty or danger at sea.
This book, which is a tribute to all rescuers, chronicles the history of these 200 years of activity through 105 photos, as well as numerous maps and documents.
