In May-June 1940, German airmen violated Swiss airspace on several occasions. The Swiss Me-109s fight and shoot down the Me-190s. The Luftwaffe, accustomed to victory, takes offense and retorts. Up to 44 planes are involved in heavy aerial combat along the Jura: 11 losses on the German side, 3 on the Swiss side.
Retaliation from Goering, who demands the surrender of the Me-109s bought from Germany and threatens to suspend deliveries of coal.
On pressure from the Federal Council, the fighting will be avoided and the captured pilots will be returned with their aircraft!
