For many years, land forces have played a central role in French military interventions: Lebanon, Ivory Coast, Central African Republic, Afghanistan, Mali are all theaters where land forces have been deployed over time. Their actions were decisive during Operation Serval in Mali, Sangaris in the Central African Republic and Barkhane in the Sahel.
But to be able to carry out external operations, the Army needs to rely on a powerful operational preparation tool where the units are immersed as close as possible to the reality of the engagements. The conditioning before projection is thus adapted to the specificities of the missions and the theaters. Today, the land forces represent more than 50 regiments that can be engaged in a combined arms and joint framework, regardless of the type of conflict, regular or asymmetrical.
This book invites you to come back to questions as diverse as collaborative combat, on-board simulation, battlefield robotization or contact drones.
The evolution of the different weapons, the question of training, that of equipment and that of the doctrine of use are also discussed.
The major programs are not forgotten, whether it is the Tiger Standard 3, the Franco-German tank, the VBAE, the Cheetah or the MHT air-to-ground missile.
Also, through this book, the authors return to the lessons of recent operations, the forms taken by land combat today and those which they could take tomorrow, in particular in a context of high intensity conflict.
