As we move towards and into a new year, it is time once again for a new Lela Presse catalogue. As you browse these pages you will notice that this latest catalogue is even more comprehensive than ever before and that we have altered the style somewhat. This is to give you better coverage of the various editions and collections available by mail order, both our own, and those of other French and foreign publishers. With no end in sight to the difficult times that we are living through, the occasional well-deserved treat - in the form of a good book - can only be beneficial. And talking of a brighter future, what does does it hold for we niche publishers ?

Many are predicting the end of 'real' paper books and magazines with the continued wise of the electronic version. There may even be fewer of them which in itself would give rise to tremendous savings. And while we are not necessarily opposed to this revolution, we are certain that 'real' books still have a long future ahead of them. The real reason for the fall in book sales is more prosaic - it is simply down to fewer readers. Recent surveys have shown that the 15-35 age group are simply reading less and less while at the same time there have never been so many books and magazines published and on the shelves of bookshops. Much of this huge output is of course an immense waster of paper. But the electronic book is one solution among a number which may incite people to read again. With the forthcoming launch of our new and revamped web site, Lela Presse will start to offer electronic versions of many of our out-of-print titles and magazines which would otherwise stand little prospect of being reprinted.

Meanwhile we still have a number of titles currently in production which we hope to publish soon (Amiot 143, Bloch 210 and more). Hopefully our readers will understand that many of our authors are not full-time writers and researchers and can only devote so much of their free time to their passion. Patience is the watch word if you want to see top class works of reference.

Once again we thank you for your understanding and loyalty and hope that you will continue to support more new titles in similar fashion. We hope you enjoy reading through our catalogue and that it meets with your expectations!
